Mutation brush

How does the mutation brush, which automatically mutates bases for the best base, make its decisions? I was testing it out in the lab and noticed that as I ran it over the same paired bases over and over, it would snap between different paired bases without a discernible pattern, and without my having changed any other conditions on the RNA. So, now I’m curious. What factors go into the brush’s decision-making process?

We figured it was similar to vienna with a random start seed when we discussed it the other day in the chat. I ran one of those on the Backward C and it had only 1 single base pair that was still red in the whole structure - it took me 6 or so base changes to get it to stabilize but I felt that was quite impressive so I submitted it as a design
