Hello! This problem might just be on my side, but some puzzles have read “Error: Unknown character ’ ’ in parenthesis notation” when I try to access them. This error appears with a couple of different “unknown characters” and typically happens when going through the challenges collection.
Until recently we turned invalid structure characters into unpaired bases. I’ve updated these puzzles (as well as the other “difficulty levels” and a few other puzzles I could find that had the same issue) to explicitly use unpaired bases so that they’re back to working as they were - as well as adding “admin notes” in the descriptions when this means that the structures don’t match the structures that they were intended to be derived from (in most of these cases, an extra base was added from the originals coming from scientific literature).
Please let us know if you see any other puzzles with this issue!
I’ve just encountered a similar but different error message on trying to open [NuPACK]Bulge hairpin pseudoknot: “Unbalanced parenthesis notation (found unclosed pair for character ‘{’)”. I don’t know whether this is related to the same issue or not.
Thanks. Later I had the same problem with [NuPACK]Second order pseudoknot. I’ve now tried all of Eli’s NuPACK pseudoknot puzzles and not found any others.
