Forum link bug

Comments in long forum posts become unlink-able

I have noticed as soon as a “second page” gets introduced, because there are a ton of comments, then one can’t link to anything on the first page. A link gets forced to the second page.

This is also a problem for other posts where discussion has been lively. It will simply halt our discussion, when we can’t link to past but relevant comment. This is something that will need fixing or it will not be possible for anyone to find comments. Plus those who don’t know, will get confused when trying to share.

Example 1

I want to link to this post on the Machinery of life book:

  1. Link to comment:
    https://getsatisfaction.com/eternagam…

  2. Where I was supposed to land:

  1. But doesn’t land me in this specific post I want. Instead it lands me on top of page 2.

Which normally has this link:

https://getsatisfaction.com/eternagam…

Example 2

  1. Link to comment:
    https://getsatisfaction.com/eternagam…

  2. Where I was supposed to land:

  3. But doesn’t land me in this specific post I want. Instead it lands me on top of page 2.

Machinelves says its a bug.

This looks like an issue with Get Satisfaction – can you send them a note for how to get a more stable link?

I agree that it is likely a Get Satisfaction problem. This will be affecting not just blog, but also science discussions to come.

Can the one who set up the Get Sat account and are responsible, contact them?

I agree, GetSat bug. This said
https://getsatisfaction.com/eternagam…
seems to work. Not satisfactory, but at least, there seems to be a workaround.

Hi Nando!

Thx for the workaround. This will do for now, for the blog section.

Now I got what I need to get on with sharing awesome protein goodnight stories. First story involves a certain green fluorescent protein. One of our playmates from the MS2 lab.

Stay tuned.

I put in a ticket/suggestion with getsat to update the link to include the proper page number.
