I would like to give points to bulges, after following scale.

For energy inside bulge on 0.4 give 0

For each 0.1 point raise in energy level inside bulge, give -0.1 points.

So an energy on 1.4 should be given -1.4 points.

The exact definition of your strategy seems unclear. You may have been saying:

Free energy inside bulge < 0.4 awards 0 points

For every 0.1 kcal above this threshold, give -0.1 points

Is this what you meant after all?
