Serendipity

Just wanted to share a fun moment I had a few weeks ago and ask if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I interact with the public at my workplace and greet many people each day at work. During a recent shift while I was walking from one area to another to get equipment for my next task, I slowed down to greet a man as I was passing. When I paused to see if he would make eye contact (not everyone does), I saw he had an Eterna shirt on. I did a double take and saw that it was indeed an Eternacon ‘17 shirt. I couldn’t walk by without asking about it; I was so excited to find someone with an Eterna connection.

The man said that he had been involved with Eterna research in the lab back in the day. So cool! He was very nice, and we chatted for a bit, but alas, I had to return to my task at hand. (My apologies if I was an awkward adorning fan!) It made my whole day though.

Later I did a bit of looking based on our conversation, and discovered that one of the authors of the recently published paper that came out of the OpenTB lab works for a company in my hometown. Who knew?!! Now I wished that I would have asked him more questions and asked for the authors to do a presentation of their work for Eternacon. Oh well.

Has anyone else every happened upon another Eterna member while out and about in their community? If so, how did the interaction go?

Was it Johan Andreasson? You could ask him what kind of work he is doing now. I believe he works at Advanced Energy.
