So, to put it simply, by less energy you mean negative energy? When looking for an answer to the puzzle should I not only focus on the ammount of possible bonds I am allowed to make, but also on the quantity of free energy these release, and keep it on the negative side?

Hi 274111! Yes, energy should be negative for the puzzle to solve. For most of the puzzles, you don’t need to pay special attention to the energy.
